The original painting’s been a longtime favorite at Toscano, so we commissioned our artists to sculpt a high-relief version exclusively for our customers! An astonishingly detailed image of great power and character, “St. Michael” is sculpted in designer resin with outstretched wings and muscular form to lend strength to this enviable quality wall frieze. An exquisite addition to your home or garden gallery. 22"Wx3½"Dx21"H. 9 lbs. Guido Reni (1575-1642) Italian painter Guido Reni painted high-Baroque paintings and was quite prominent in his day. Reni paintings commonly were religious works and mythological scenes that received critical praise. Reni was born in Bologna and began studying painting when he was only nine years old. After visiting Rome in 1600, Reni decided that emulating the antique and recent Roman arts would be his life passion. Especially admiring Raphael, Reni also painted clear light and perfectly formed bodies with a lively ambiance. Like many other painters from Bologna, Reni s paintings were thematic, such as Archangel St. Michael, and verifiably eclectic. Reni was essentially a classical artist in the academic genre, but his elegant paintings and his unrelenting quest for artistic perfection transcend time and style. - more info
