The people of the village used to sacrifice first lambs, and then their children to the beast. When it was the turn of the princess to be offered to the beast, St. George happened along and he vowed to stay and slay the beast. This stunning statue is crafted entirely in cold cast bronze to give a metallic bronze hue and hand painted to enhance the metallic luster and details. All dressed in armor and battle gear, he is thrusting his lance down towards the dragon's open maw.
